Tica Giel, whose native island is Aruba, studied voice and music theory and education at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, and started her performance and teaching career in the Netherlands. Having earned general recognition as an artist and established her claim to all-round professionalism she returned to Aruba. There she now dedicates all her talent and energy to the musical life of the island community in all its facets; teaching, developing educational methods and programs, conducting choruses, and performing both classical and popular music as soloist in a variety of ensembles she brings together.
