John Van Buskirk is well known as a versatile musician appearing as piano soloist, chamber musician and collaborative artist with prominent instrumentalists and singers – he has toured the U.S., New Zealand and Europe in these diverse roles. Mr. Van Buskirk is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, The Juilliard School and studied at the renowned Liszt Academy in Budapest. In addition, he has a special interest in Classical and early Romantic performance practices, performing on the fortepiano at the Mostly Mozart Festival, Lincoln Center; at Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall; at Merkin Hall in New York City and on National Public Radio.

Mr. Van Buskirk was associated for many years with the Waterloo Music Festival in New Jersey as faculty member and as summer administrator; he was an original member of the Music Today Ensemble in New York City which programmed music by currrent composers; he was a member of the Music Department at Smith College from 1986 to 1999. He is currently the keyboard player of the New York Chamber Symphony and performs at music festivals throughout the U.S. He has recorded for Nonesuch, Vanguard, Delos, Decamera Magna, Pro-Arte, and EML. His most recent recording is The Art of the Fortepiano on Lyrichord.
