Dutch pianist Christiaan Kuyvenhoven (1985) studied under Michail Markov, first at the Van Zweden School of Music and then at the Conservatorium Saxion Hogeschool Enschede.
He attended masterclasses with Menahem Pressler, Jerome Rose and Ton Hartsuiker. In 1998, Christiaan Kuyvenhoven won first prize in the Prinses Christina Concours in The Hague; two years later he was awarded the title of Young Music Talent 2000. In that same year he also made his debut with the Residentie Orkest, conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Now 20 years of age, he has already performed abroad, in Germany, the U.S., Ukraine, France, Greece, Japan and Slovenia.
The press wrote about him: “Kuyvenhoven distinguishes himself by a fresh, highly imaginative performance” (Utrechts Nieuwsblad) and “The 19-year old Kuyvenhoven impressed with his natural performance and his fresh, seemingly unpretentious approach in Liszt’s still frightening virtuoso notes” (NCR Handelsblad).
By winning Third Prize during the Final of the 7th International Franz Liszt Piano Concours 2006 he became the first Dutch Liszt laureate in sixteen years. |
